The Brownsville Public Library System has Internet computers just for the kids at each library branch. Located in the Children’s Section, the Kids Internet Computers offer all children an opportunity to experience a safe and educational experience on the Web. As part of this service, the library has created a special Web site called Kidsnet that is just for kids and is a window to the world for all children to enjoy.
Kidsnet is a gathering of educational and safe material that is appropriate for any
child to enjoy. In complying with the federal law, the Children’s Internet Protection
Act, the Brownsville Public Library System takes the safety of every child on the
Internet seriously. The Library also wants every child to enjoy their time while
visiting the Children’s Section and experience the wonders of the Internet. Each
Internet access computer has audio headphones available and kids can print-outs pages
they need for homework. Print-outs are available at the Circulation Desk for ten
cents per black and white page and twenty five cents per page for color. Children
are asked to sign in at the Children’s Desk and remember that all children have an
equal opportunity on the Web; therefore timed sessions are a necessity. So come take
a seat in front of one of the computers and let your imagination sore!

The library has Story Time at each library location. This program is designed for younger children and is a great way to introduce the library and reading to them. For more information click here.
